The spring storms are over,
The threat has now past;
For the chrysalis now clinging
Has respite now at last.
The strong winds have torn
Limbs from mighty plants so green,
And the caterpillar will awake
To unfamiliar scenes.
Bright shafts of sunlight
Are piercing through the trees,
And violence has given way
To the gentle blowing of the breeze.
The humble creature, who
To his old life now must die,
Will arise a brilliant creation –
The emergence of the butterfly.
