My mother’s gone away
And she is not coming back.
It is her love, cheerfulness and warmth
That I am going to lack.
My father has gone to pieces
And needs support
For the parting was painful,
Far more than he could have thought.
She loved and left us,
Leaving us with a sense of loss
As she went for release
And we carried an enormous cross.
For she has gone to see
Friends and family far away,
Where there is no pain
And sorrow has no say.
One day we shall see her again
And there with her to stay
For her body is still with us
And her soul has
gone away.
