'Advent Light' (poem) written by Andrew Drury

Mary, bearer and burier

Of your Son -

Your dark protective womb

Contained the vast Eternal One

Who had said, "Let there be light."

You gazed upon the child

Whose visage

Was denied to the prophets of old

And held delicately the King of Ages.

You watched the Light of the World

Hung up for all to see

And was then emtombed in a darkened cave

So enabling humble people to truly see.

I will stand with you and all the saints

To praise your Son

In the immense, illuminous heaven -

Together worshipping the pierced, the risen One.
