New Research finds belief in God is natural

A major Oxford University study shows that belief in God is not learned from society but is integral to human nature. Researchers found that we are predisposed to supernatural beliefs, although city dwellers in developed countries are less believing than rural people.

The project, led by Professor Roger Trigg and Dr Justin Barrett, involved 57 researchers from 20 countries.

Prof Trigg concludes that 'attempts to suppress religion are likely to be short-lived.'

Meanwhile, neurology professor Kevin Nelson's new book, The God Impulse - Is Religion Hardwired Into The Brain?, explains near-death experiences in physical terms, but Nelson add: 'Who's to say that these mechanisms weren't created by God in he first place precisely to provide comfort just when we might need it most - as we approach death?'
